In the early days of January 2023, quail hunters exploring the remote, rugged terrain of Hidalgo County, New Mexico, made a grim discovery. The skeletal remains of an unidentified male, later determined to be Martin Gavin Vasquez Orozco, were found in an isolated area known for its high incidence of illegal border crossings. These remains were located approximately three miles south of Geronimo Trail Road and Black CC Camp, and 14.2 miles north of the Mexico-United States border.
