On the evening of September 19, 2015, in Chicago's North Kenwood neighborhood, 14-year-old Tyjuan Poindexter pleaded with his mother, Michelle Poindexter, for permission to join friends for a game of basketball. Initially hesitant due to concerns about neighborhood safety, Michelle eventually allowed her son to go, unaware that this decision would lead to a tragic outcome.
The Fatal Incident
As Tyjuan and his 15-year-old friend walked toward a nearby school park around 7:30 p.m., a vehicle approached them on the 4400 block of South Greenwood Avenue. He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was.
