In the summer of 1981, a 15-year-old girl named Patricia "Patty" Lynn Taylor vanished from Tulsa, Oklahoma, leaving behind a life marked by instability and a family who would not stop searching for her. The exact date of her last contact is uncertain, with reports ranging from August 1st to August 31st of that year. At the time of her disappearance, Patricia was described as being between 5'4" and 5'8" tall, weighing around 110 to 120 pounds, with red or auburn hair and green eyes. She had a distinctive "S" tattoo on her right arm, a circular birthmark on her right knee, a scar on her right thigh, and may have been wearing braces. Known to her loved ones as "Patsi," her disappearance was initially classified as a runaway case. Patricia's childhood was turbulent, leading to her being moved between various homes. Due to problems at home, she was sent to live with family in North Dakota before being brought back to Oklahoma and placed in the care of the state's Department of Human Services (DHS). She spent time at the Owasso Children's Baptist home before being transferred to the Tulsa Girl's Group Home in July 1981. It was from this group home that she was last seen. There were reports that she may have been working at a Sonic restaurant in Tulsa around the time she went missing. One account suggests she told coworkers she was getting on a bus, intending to run away again, having done so in the past but always returning. Years turned into decades with no word from Patricia. Her family continued their search, and in 1994, they received a letter from DHS stating that she had never been adopted out of their custody. The official missing persons report with the Tulsa Police Department was not filed until December 3, 2015, over three decades after she was last seen. The Oklahoma DHS had closed her case when she turned eighteen. Despite the passage of time, Patricia's case remains an active and unsolved missing person's investigation. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are still unclear, leaving her family with unanswered questions about what happened to the 15-year-old girl who seemingly vanished.
