On a winter day in January of 2013, 40-year-old Michael Shane Chapman was last seen in Grove, Oklahoma. A resident of Joplin, Missouri, he was known to be on Grand Lake on January 27th. What began as a day on the water turned into a lasting mystery when he did not return. The following afternoon, his boat was found adrift on the lake near the area known as Sail Boat Bridge, with no sign of Michael. This discovery triggered a comprehensive search of the surrounding area by concerned authorities and loved ones, all holding out hope for his safe return. At the time of his disappearance, Michael was described as a White male with long black hair and a long black and gray goatee. He stood at 5 feet 9 inches and weighed between 175 and 250 pounds. His appearance was distinguished by several tattoos, including two on his upper chest above the nipple line, tattoos on both of his arms, and another on his back. When he was last seen, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. The search for Michael was extensive, with crews in helicopters and boats combing a 10-square-mile area of Grand Lake, but their efforts were hampered by stormy weather. The official investigation into Michael's disappearance is handled by the Grand River Dam Authority Police. Despite the extensive searches and the passage of time, he has not been found. The primary evidence in the case remains his unoccupied boat, which was recovered the day after he was last seen. Based on this, the prevailing theory is that he may have tragically drowned in the lake. However, without his recovery, his case remains an unresolved and painful chapter for his family and friends, leaving them with unanswered questions about his final moments.
