In the winter of 2011, a 27-year-old man named Timur Mardeyev, a native of Kazakhstan, vanished without a trace from Grove, Oklahoma. On the evening of November 29th, he departed from his residence in Grove, embarking on a journey to Tulsa. Those who saw him that day noted he seemed agitated and withdrawn, a departure from his usual demeanor. He left in his dark blue 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, and what transpired over the next few hours has left his family and investigators with more questions than answers. His vehicle's GPS would later reveal a perplexing route, one that deviated from his typical path to Tulsa. The electronic trail left by his vehicle showed it traveled to the River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, where it remained for about an hour. From there, the car was driven to a Batman Convenience Store on North Mingo Road and left abandoned. Ten days later, on December 9th, the Hyundai was towed from the convenience store's parking lot. Inside the unlocked car were his keys in the ignition, his GPS, an open bottle of whiskey, and an unopened soda. Curiously, the driver's seat was positioned for someone much shorter than Timur, who stood over six feet tall, and the radio was tuned to a rap station, a genre of music he was not known to enjoy. Adding to the mystery, his family reported that he was carrying a significant amount of cash, between $3,000 and $5,000, along with his wallet and passport. Timur was in the United States on a work visa and had plans to build a life in Oklahoma. He was engaged to be married in Russia the following February and was in the process of house-hunting in Tulsa. He was scheduled to fly to Russia for Christmas but never made his flight. His family noted that while he kept to himself, he had been using an alias, "Ratmir Maruna," to communicate with a woman he met online. Although he had considered meeting her, a possibility his relatives advised against due to his engagement, authorities interviewed the woman and do not consider her a suspect. The investigation into Timur Mardeyev's disappearance has been extensive, yet years have passed without any resolution. His passport was flagged, but there has been no indication of him leaving the country. The strange circumstances surrounding his last known hours, the unusual state of his abandoned car, and his sudden disappearance have created a perplexing and unsolved case, leaving his loved ones waiting for answers.
