On May 9, 1991, 19-year-old Nguyet Thu Phung, also known to her friends and family as "Wiki," began her day like any other. She left her parents' apartment in Lynnwood, Washington, with plans to attend classes at Shoreline Community College before heading to her clerical job at the Federal Building in downtown Seattle. Nguyet, a Vietnamese immigrant who had come to the United States with her family around 1975 to escape the communist takeover of her home country, was known for her consistent routine and for staying in close contact with her family. If she was ever running late, she would always call home to let them know. However, on this particular day, after leaving her family's residence, she was never heard from again. The lack of communication was highly uncharacteristic of her, and when she failed to return home that evening, her family grew increasingly worried. The investigation into Nguyet's disappearance has been met with few leads and a scarcity of public information. The day she vanished, her boyfriend reportedly dropped her off at the college campus. Later that morning, her employer contacted her mother when Nguyet didn't show up for her shift. That evening, her father reported her missing to the Lynnwood Police Department. Nguyet was described as an Asian female, standing at 5'2" and weighing around 115 pounds. She had black hair, brown eyes, pierced ears, and a distinctive mole on the left side of her upper lip. At the time she went missing, it is believed she may have been wearing a gold ring on her right hand. Despite the passage of time, her case remains an active investigation, now considered a cold case. Over the years, a troubling theory has emerged in Nguyet Phung's case; investigators believe she may have been the victim of a serial killer. This theory arose due to the number of women who had been murdered or had gone missing from the surrounding King and Snohomish counties during that period. Law enforcement has considered the possibility that her disappearance could be connected to a known serial killer, or perhaps someone who shared similar methods. The area had a history of such predators, which has led to speculation about a potential link. However, no definitive evidence has publicly surfaced to confirm this theory or to identify a specific person of interest in her disappearance. The lack of answers has left her family with unresolved grief, and the case of what happened to Nguyet Thu Phung remains a painful mystery.
