On September 3, 1983, a camping trip on the shores of Lake Huron marked the beginning of a long and sorrowful mystery for the family of 15-year-old Joseph 'Joey' Michael Gutierrez. Joey, a resident of Detroit, and his 16-year-old friend, Christopher Jedra, were dropped off by Christopher's parents for an overnight adventure in a wooded area near South Point in Sanborn Township, Michigan.
