In the winter of 2011, a 20-year-old Native American woman named Ruthie Fawn Kindness vanished from the Parkland area of Washington. On February 7th, 2011, the same day she was released from police custody in Federal Way for an outstanding warrant, Ruthie was last seen near 126th Street South and Pacific Avenue. Her last known contact was a phone call made to her mother from a payphone at the Paradise Bowling Alley on Pacific Avenue. Following that call, she was never heard from or seen again. At the time of her disappearance, Ruthie was described as being 5'3" to 5'4" tall and weighing around 110 to 115 pounds, with brown hair that may have had highlights and brown eyes. She had pierced ears and sometimes wore acrylic fingernails. She was known to occasionally use the alias Anna Heger or Hegger. The circumstances surrounding Ruthie's disappearance are deeply concerning, and she is considered to be an endangered missing person. At the time she went missing, she was homeless and did not have a cell phone, which likely complicated efforts to locate her. Despite her transient state, she was a freshman at California State University, Northridge, indicating aspirations beyond her immediate difficulties. Her loved ones reported that she frequented the areas of Federal Way, Puyallup, and Milton in Washington. The Auburn Police Department is the primary agency investigating her case. Over a decade has passed since Ruthie Kindness was last heard from, and her case remains unsolved. Her disappearance has left her family and community with unanswered questions and lingering pain. Efforts to keep her story in the public eye have included features on television shows like "In Pursuit with John Walsh" in the hopes of generating new leads. Age-progressed photos have also been created and disseminated to show what Ruthie might look like as the years have gone by. The investigation into what happened to Ruthie after she made that final phone call from a bowling alley is ongoing, a somber reminder of a young life interrupted and a family left waiting for answers.
