On a Saturday evening, December 4, 2010, in the rural area of South Boston, Virginia, a 16-year-old male named Forest Ferguson was seen for the last time. He was a student at the Carlbrook School, a private boarding school for teenagers facing academic or behavioral challenges. That night, at approximately 7:30 PM, Forest left the school's campus, taking some clothing with him. When he departed, he was wearing a dark-colored "hoodie," possibly a burgundy Carhartt-style jacket, jeans, and a borrowed pair of white Chuck Conner Nike sneakers. He has a scar on his chest. Forest had previously been a student at another residential treatment facility, the Diamond Ranch Academy in Utah. It is thought that after leaving the Carlbrook School, he may have intended to travel through South Boston or Danville, Virginia. Another possible destination was Durham, North Carolina. Authorities have considered his disappearance a case of an endangered runaway, believing he left the school of his own accord. Over the years, there has been very little information to emerge in Forest's case. He had been enrolled in various programs and schools away from home for a significant period before he disappeared from Carlbrook. His family has expressed a desire to reconnect with him and simply know that he is safe. The case remains an active missing person investigation, and there have been no definitive traces of him found since he walked away from the school campus that winter night. The circumstances surrounding his decision to leave and his subsequent whereabouts continue to be a mystery.
