On November 1, 2001, Janice Yvonne Johnson, a 42-year-old female from Henrico, Virginia, vanished under troubling circumstances. That day, she informed her family she was going to a store, but she never returned home and failed to appear for work, which was out of character for her. The last confirmed sighting of her was at a fast-food restaurant in Chester, Virginia. Concern grew when her husband reported her missing the following day, November 2, 2001. The initial stages of the investigation into her disappearance quickly uncovered details that pointed towards a serious and potentially criminal situation. The investigation took a significant turn when Janice Johnson’s white 1996 Mercedes-Benz was discovered abandoned in a Walmart parking lot in Hanover County, approximately ten miles north of her residence. The vehicle appeared to have been stationary for some time, adding to the mystery of her whereabouts. Further examination of her personal affairs revealed a startling financial discrepancy: $10,000 had been withdrawn from her bank account around the time she went missing. This substantial sum of money, coupled with the abandoned vehicle, deepened the fears of her loved ones and law enforcement. As the years have passed, the case of Janice Yvonne Johnson has remained an active and open investigation. Investigators have identified a person of interest, Dung Tran, who was reportedly one of the last people seen with her. Authorities suspect foul play in her disappearance and consider it a probable homicide. At the time of her disappearance, Johnson was described as a Black female with brown, shoulder-length straightened hair and brown eyes. She had distinctive piercings, with two in one ear and three in the other. Despite the passage of time, the efforts to find answers and bring closure to her family continue. The case is an overview of a woman who vanished after a routine day, leaving behind a trail of perplexing clues including an abandoned car and missing money, which have yet to lead to her discovery or a definitive explanation of what occurred.
