In early March of 2022, 56-year-old Tracy Lynn Butler Epps was staying at a Woodspring Suites hotel in Henrico, Virginia, with her husband, Lester Carlton Epps, Jr. She was last heard from on March 1, 2022, and hotel staff recalled last seeing her around February 28 or March 1. Tracy, a Caucasian female with blonde hair and green eyes, was described as being 5'2" and weighing approximately 145 pounds. She sometimes wore glasses for reading or working. Those who knew her described her as a woman who loved life and the people around her with intensity. The circumstances leading to the discovery of Tracy's disappearance are deeply troubling. On March 6, 2022, Tracy's husband, Lester, was shot and killed by police in Richmond, Virginia, following a confrontation where he was armed and acting aggressively. The following day, when officers from the Richmond and Henrico police departments went to the Woodspring Suites to notify Tracy of her husband's death, they were unable to locate her, which prompted a missing persons investigation. The investigation into her disappearance revealed a noisy confrontation in the couple's hotel room on the night she was last seen. Evidence discovered at the hotel included the presence of blood and surveillance footage that showed Lester Epps moving a blanket-wrapped object from a luggage cart into a car. Authorities suspect foul play in Tracy's disappearance and believe her husband may have murdered her. Lester Epps is considered the prime suspect in her disappearance and probable homicide. Despite extensive searches conducted by law enforcement and search and rescue teams, Tracy's whereabouts remain unknown. Her family, heartbroken by her disappearance and the violent circumstances surrounding it, fears the worst and continues to seek answers. The case remains an active and unsolved missing person investigation, leaving a painful void for those who knew and loved Tracy. The overarching view of the case is that Tracy's disappearance is directly linked to the actions of her husband in the days just before his death, with evidence strongly suggesting she met with a violent end.
