In the small city of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, a family's sense of peace was shattered in the autumn of 2023. On November 3rd, 32-year-old Willis Dean Marshall, a Black / African American male, vanished. A family member had given him a ride and dropped him off at the Pines Apartments in Broken Bow, a final confirmed sighting that would mark the beginning of an agonizing mystery for his loved ones and community. At the time of his disappearance, he stood around 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed between 145 and 160 pounds. His hair and eyes were both brown. Willis has distinct tattoos, including a tribal design on his right shoulder and another on his right arm with the words "WITHOUT FAITH NOTHING IS POSSIBLE/ WITH FAITH ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE". As days turned into weeks with no word from him, concern mounted, and on November 7, 2023, he was officially reported as a missing person to the Broken Bow Police Department. The investigation into Willis Marshall's disappearance took a grim turn as authorities began to focus on a local man named Marvin Bray, for whom Marshall was known to have worked. A witness came forward with disturbing information, telling a sheriff's deputy on November 9, just six days after Marshall was last seen, that they had witnessed Bray tying Marshall up on several occasions shortly before he went missing. This account led law enforcement to execute a series of search warrants on Bray's property located east of Broken Bow. The search of the property yielded a horrifying discovery. A cadaver dog, specifically trained to detect human remains, alerted officers to a burn pile near Bray's home. Within the burn pile, investigators found what they believed to be segments of human remains. The harrowing scene also included a trailer containing buckets filled with burned materials that appeared to have come from the same burn pile. Following this discovery, Kenneth Marvin Bray, 52, was arrested and charged with Desecration of a Human Corpse, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and possessing stolen property. The search for Willis Marshall had led authorities to a deeply unsettling conclusion, though final identification of the remains was pending an official autopsy by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office. The case evolved from a missing person investigation into a homicide inquiry, leaving a community to grapple with the tragic and violent nature of Willis Marshall's last days.
