On November 25, 1994, 20-year-old Joshua Scott Curry was last seen by his mother as she dropped him off at his apartment in Mountain View, Hawaii, a rural area outside of Hilo. Lacking a telephone, his mother gave him change to call her the next day from a payphone, but he was never heard from again. At the time of his disappearance, Curry was facing personal struggles, having admitted to his mother a month prior that he was addicted to heroin and was reportedly depressed.
