In the early morning hours of April 21, 2004, a 20-year-old woman named Shameeka M. Gordon-Dixon vanished from Staten Island, New York. At the time of her disappearance, she was a young, expectant mother, four months pregnant. Shameeka was last seen at a relative’s home located in the vicinity of York Avenue and Richmond Terrace. She had plans to visit a friend that evening and left her family member's residence around 1:30 a.m. Shameeka, who was also known by the nickname "Meekie," was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black North Face jacket, black sweatpants, and black Nike sneakers when she was last seen. Tragically, she never arrived at her friend's home and was never heard from again. As the hours turned into days, and then weeks, with no word from Shameeka, her family grew increasingly concerned. Her disappearance was uncharacteristic, and the fact that she was pregnant added another layer of urgency and worry to the situation. Shameeka is described as a Black female with brown hair and black eyes, standing at 5'4" and weighing approximately 110 pounds. She has a distinctive tattoo of her first name, "Shameeka," on her right shoulder and another tattoo of the name "Rasheen" across her lower back. Her mother has spoken about the immense pain and distress of not knowing what happened to her daughter and the struggle to keep her story in the public eye. Authorities believe that Shameeka may have been a victim of foul play. In the course of their investigation, they searched a landfill for any evidence that might lead them to her whereabouts, but unfortunately, nothing was found. Her ex-boyfriend has been identified as a person of interest in her case, but no charges have ever been filed in connection with her disappearance. The case of Shameeka M. Gordon-Dixon remains an unsolved and heart-wrenching mystery. Her family continues to hold out hope for answers and closure, left to wonder what became of the young mother-to-be who disappeared into the night.
