On the morning of March 26, 2024, 62-year-old Cristina Ase, a dedicated nurse, was last seen at her home in Vancouver, Washington. A native of Argentina who had moved to the United States in the mid-2000s, Cristina had built a life and a career she was passionate about, earning a doctorate in medical science after initially working as a biochemist in her home country. Her loved ones and colleagues described her as a very kind person, deeply committed to her job and the patients she cared for at the Rose Linn Care Center in West Linn, Oregon. Her disappearance was completely out of character and has left her family, friends, and coworkers in a state of confusion and worry. The day Cristina vanished began with a seemingly routine, yet slightly unusual, text message. At 6:34 a.m., she texted a coworker to say she would be an hour late for work, arriving at 8:30 a.m., but she provided no reason for the delay. She never arrived at the care center, where she was expected to attend a training session she had been looking forward to. When she didn't show up, her concerned coworkers contacted her husband, who was unaware of her plans to start work late. Both her husband and her colleagues reported her missing that same day. The following day, March 27, her dark gray 2013 Toyota Rav4 was found abandoned in Vancouver. The vehicle had mysteriously reappeared parked near her apartment complex. Inside the car, authorities reportedly found a powdery residue on several surfaces, which they believed could be some sort of cleaning agent. The investigation into Cristina's disappearance quickly deemed it suspicious. Authorities discovered that in the weeks leading up to March 26, she had sent similar texts to her employer about being late, and phone records suggested a pattern of traveling to the Glenwood Park area in Southeast Portland. On the morning she went missing, her cell phone data indicated she left her home around 6:34 a.m., traveled into Portland, and spent several hours in the vicinity of Glenwood Park. The last ping from her phone was recorded near the intersection of Southeast Flavel Street and Southeast 92nd Avenue before it was turned off. Law enforcement believes her disappearance may be related to a serious crime or a dangerous medical emergency. The FBI has joined the investigation, and authorities have asked for public assistance, particularly from anyone who might have video footage of Cristina or her vehicle around her home or the locations in Portland her phone pinged. Her husband, family, and friends have been cooperative with the investigation, which remains unsolved as they hold out hope for answers.
