In the winter of 1980, a 29-year-old man named Zulfiqar Charania, known affectionately as Zully, vanished under puzzling circumstances. Of East Indian or South Asian descent, Zulfiqar was a man with black hair and black eyes, standing at approximately five feet ten inches tall and weighing around 141 pounds. At the time of his disappearance, he was a resident of Ottawa, Ontario. His last known whereabouts were in Montreal, Quebec, on December 26, 1980. He was in the city for a joyous occasion, visiting his sister to celebrate the Christmas holidays with family. The holiday visit was meant to be one stop on a larger family tour, as Zulfiqar had plans to travel onward to New York to spend time with another relative after his stay in Montreal concluded. However, his planned journey took an unforeseen and alarming turn. When he departed from his sister's residence, he left behind a critical item that suggested his trip was not proceeding as intended. All of his personal belongings, packed within his suitcase, were left at the home. This unusual detail has been a central and confounding element of his case ever since. Since that December day in 1980, there has been a profound and complete silence. Zulfiqar Charania's family has not heard from him, and his whereabouts remain an agonizing mystery. Decades have passed, turning his case into a long-standing and cold investigation. Authorities, including the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, continue to list him as a missing person, a silent testament to a life interrupted without explanation. The overview of this case is one of sudden and unexplained absence. A young man on a holiday trip to visit loved ones disappears, but not before leaving all his possessions behind, a detail that contradicts any notion of a planned departure and leaves his family with decades of unanswered questions.
