In the late summer of 2012, a young man from Moncton, New Brunswick, vanished, leaving behind a profound sense of mystery and a family desperate for answers. Romeo Cloutier, a 23-year-old male, was officially reported missing on September 13, 2012. The last known trace of him was the discovery of his vehicle, found abandoned that very same day in the community of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, near Coates Mills Road. At the time he disappeared, he was described as being six feet tall and weighing around 145 pounds, with brown eyes and a shaved head. Distinctive tattoos on his arms and neck were also noted as part of his description. His sudden absence created a void, launching a search and an investigation that would stretch on for years. Immediately following the report and the unsettling discovery of his car, law enforcement and search crews began the arduous task of combing the area where the vehicle was located. Extensive searches were conducted in the rural landscape of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, a place of quiet woods and open fields. Despite these exhaustive efforts, which included expanded searches with the help of ground search and rescue teams, no significant clues emerged to suggest what might have happened to Cloutier. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received and followed up on numerous tips from the public, but each lead failed to bring them closer to finding the missing man. There was a report from an acquaintance who believed they saw and spoke with Cloutier on the Saturday after his disappearance, but this interaction could not be confirmed, leaving a frustrating lack of verified sightings. As days turned into weeks, and weeks into years, the investigation into Romeo Cloutier's disappearance remained active, though answers were elusive. Investigators have expressed their belief that he was not out of contact by his own choice. For his family and the community, the lack of resolution has been a source of ongoing pain. The case is a haunting reminder of a young father who seemingly vanished without a trace. Despite the passage of time and the absence of new evidence from searches, the hope for information that could finally shed light on his whereabouts persists. This overview of the case reflects a situation that is tragically all too common: a man disappears, his vehicle is found, and a search ensues, but the trail goes cold, leaving behind only questions and an enduring mystery for his loved ones and the investigators dedicated to his case.
