In the late spring of 2014, the regular phone calls from 31-year-old Aaron Dragonetti to his family suddenly stopped. Having been working in the oil fields in Alberta, Aaron, a man known to travel, made his way to St. John's, Newfoundland, arriving by plane from British Columbia in June of that year. His family would not hear from him again, and by November, his concerned mother reported him missing to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, triggering an investigation that would uncover a puzzling series of events. Police determined that Aaron was last seen in the area of Southside Road in St. John's sometime in August 2014. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being approximately 5'10" tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The circumstances leading up to Aaron's disappearance are shrouded in mystery. Investigators learned that after arriving in St. John's, he began a relationship with a local woman, though the relationship ended in July. He continued to stay in the city, residing at a home on Southside Road. According to the woman he was staying with, Aaron woke her at 4 a.m. one morning in August, stating there was an emergency back home in British Columbia and that he had to leave immediately. That was the last time anyone has reported seeing or hearing from him. Subsequent police investigation could find no evidence of any emergency involving his family or friends on the west coast. It was also noted that while Aaron himself did not have a criminal record in St. John's, he was associated with people who did. The investigation into Aaron Dragonetti's vanishing has left more questions than answers. Authorities could find no record of him ever leaving the province; airline records show his arrival but not his departure. Furthermore, his bank accounts have remained untouched since he was last seen. The police investigation was also complicated by the fact that he was known to use multiple cell phones that were not registered in his name. His family, left in a state of uncertainty, feels they have received little and sometimes contradictory information over the years. The case of Aaron Dragonetti remains an unsolved missing person investigation, a quiet arrival in St. John's followed by a sudden and perplexing disappearance that has left his loved ones searching for answers.
