In the winter of 2002, a young man named Alexandre Fortin, who was 20 years old, vanished under perplexing and alarming circumstances in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, Québec. On the evening of February 22nd, he was at a residence on 127th Street with friends. Reports from that night indicate that his friends decided to go out to get something to eat, but Alexandre, feeling unwell, chose to stay behind at the house. This decision would be the last known account of his whereabouts before he disappeared. Later that same evening, a fire erupted and completely destroyed the residence where Alexandre had been waiting. When his friends returned, they were met with the devastating scene of the house fully ablaze. The initial and most logical assumption was that Alexandre had tragically perished in the fire. However, a thorough investigation by fire scene technicians and police in the aftermath yielded a baffling discovery: there was no trace of Alexandre found within the ruins of the burned home. The Sûreté du Québec later confirmed that the fire was considered to be of a suspicious nature, deepening the mystery surrounding his disappearance. In the years that have followed, the case of Alexandre Fortin has remained unsolved. Investigators have pursued leads and gathered information, but a definitive explanation for what happened has never been established. The day before he went missing, Alexandre had a cryptic phone call with his mother, telling her he had something important to discuss that couldn't be spoken about over the phone. His family believes something unfortunate must have happened, as it was not in his character to simply leave without telling anyone. Despite extensive searches and public appeals for information, including a poster campaign on a transport trailer that travels thousands of kilometers a week, Alexandre has not been found. The investigation into his disappearance is an overview of a troubling mystery, centering on a suspicious fire from which the young man was expected to be recovered, yet he was not, leaving his family with unanswered questions.
