In the late summer of 2012, a sense of concern grew in the community of Coaticook, Quebec, following the disappearance of 36-year-old Mark Pearson. He was last seen on August 31, 2012, when he reportedly left a residence on des Quatre-Vents Street on foot. At the time he went missing, Pearson was described as being 1.78 meters tall and weighing 91 kilograms, with short brown hair and brown eyes. A distinguishing feature was a small scar on his chin. He was known to frequently wear a large, silver-colored watch with a blue interior. Fluent in both French and English, there was an early indication that he might have headed towards the Montreal area, as he had been in online contact with a woman from that city shortly before he was last seen. As days turned into weeks, the investigation into Mark Pearson's whereabouts intensified. In mid-September of that year, a significant development occurred when some of his personal belongings were discovered near the Coaticook River. This discovery prompted extensive search efforts by the Sûreté du Québec, which included a helicopter survey of the area. The search of the river and its banks continued into November, with police officers and a diver meticulously combing the area for any further clues. Despite these thorough searches, no new evidence was found, and the trail seemed to grow cold, leaving family, friends, and investigators without the answers they desperately sought. The Sûreté du Québec has emphasized that a disappearance case is never closed until the individual is found, and the investigation into what happened to Mark Pearson remains open. His sudden departure from Coaticook on that August day and the subsequent discovery of his personal items by the river have left a lingering mystery. The initial hope that he might be in Montreal has, over time, been overshadowed by the lack of any further contact or sightings. The case is an overview of a man who vanished, leaving behind only a few clues that led to an intensive but ultimately inconclusive search effort, and a community still waiting for answers.
