In the early hours of Friday, March 29, 2024, 35-year-old Chance Gavin Daniel Kay was last seen in Gravenhurst, Ontario. He was reportedly near the Skyways Motel on Highway 11. Earlier in the evening, he had informed his common-law partner that he needed to go to a drugstore in Bracebridge and borrowed her car. He later visited an acquaintance at the motel. Concerns for his well-being grew after he left the motel area on foot, leaving behind both his cell phone and his mother's car. The vehicle was later found abandoned at the Skyways Motel. Chance is described as being 5'8" with a slim build, long auburn hair, and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos, including some on his face. At the time of his disappearance, he was believed to be wearing a black Adidas hoodie and green track pants. There were a couple of unconfirmed sightings of an individual matching his description walking south on Winhara Road at approximately 6:00 p.m. on the evening he went missing. His disappearance is considered out of character, as he is a dedicated family man. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an investigation, conducting both ground and aerial searches in the vicinity of the motel and Winhara Road, with the assistance of canine units and the Emergency Response Team. Despite these efforts, and additional searches by volunteer organizations, no trace of Chance has been found. The investigation into his disappearance remains active, and authorities have stated that they do not consider his disappearance to be suspicious.
