In the city of Regina, Saskatchewan, a five-year-old girl named Tamra Jewel Keepness vanished from her home, leaving a void that has been felt by her family and community for years. She was last seen in her house on the 1800 block of Ottawa Street on the evening of July 5, 2004. Tamra, an Indigenous child from the Whitebear First Nation, was described by her mother as a brave and smart little girl who dearly loved her siblings, including her twin sister. That night, as she went to bed, no one could have known it would be the last time she would be seen in the familiar comfort of her home. The following morning, when her family awoke, Tamra was gone. The night of Tamra's disappearance was reportedly unsettled. Her mother, Lorena Keepness, and her partner, Dean McArthur, were at the home with Tamra and her five siblings. Reports from that evening indicate there was an argument, and another man who was sometimes at the house, Russell Sheepskin, was allegedly assaulted by McArthur. Later in the evening, after the children had been put to bed, Lorena briefly went to a friend's house nearby. Upon her return, she found the house locked and had to enter through a window. It wasn't until the next day that the family realized Tamra was missing from the home and, after a brief search of their own, they contacted the police. There were no signs of a struggle or forced entry at the residence. The report of a missing five-year-old launched the largest search in the history of Regina. Hundreds of police, RCMP cadets, and community volunteers scoured neighborhoods, parks, and alleys, looking for any sign of the little girl. The investigation that followed has been extensive, with police receiving thousands of tips and conducting numerous interviews over the years. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no trace of Tamra has ever been found. The Regina Police Service has stated the investigation remains active, and a $50,000 reward for information leading to her location is still offered. The case has become one of Saskatchewan's most haunting and enduring mysteries, a painful story of a little girl who disappeared from her home in the middle of the night, leaving behind only questions and a family who continues to hope for answers.
