In the late summer of 2016, in the city of Cranbrook, British Columbia, the life of a young family was unalterably changed. Daniel Curtis Ladd, a 34-year-old man, was last seen on August 18th or 19th of that year. The last person to see him was his own daughter, who was just five or six years old at the time. After preparing dinner for them, he mentioned he needed to go out for a short while, but he never came back. His little girl spent the night alone before waking to the heartbreaking realization that her father was gone. Authorities believe that after leaving his home, Daniel met with several individuals but tragically did not return. Daniel is described as being 6'1" tall, of interracial or Aboriginal descent, with short brown hair and brown eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing a short-sleeved white and black plaid collared shirt along with black and white plaid shorts. In the years that have passed, his family has been left with an agonizing void and a multitude of unanswered questions. They have made emotional public appeals for any information that could lead to answers. His sister, Areatha, has voiced the family's belief that Daniel would not have disappeared on his own, and they are convinced that there are people who hold the knowledge of what occurred. The disappearance has been especially hard on his daughter, whose birthday wish every year since he vanished has been for her father to come home. The family continues to plead with the public, emphasizing that even the smallest piece of information could be the key to resolving this painful mystery. The Cranbrook RCMP have been investigating the case since Daniel was reported missing, but the search continues. The case remains an active missing person investigation, a lingering nightmare for a family that wants nothing more than to find closure and bring Daniel home. They live with the constant struggle of not knowing where he is or what happened to him after he left his home that August evening.
