In the vast and rugged landscape of Alberta, a family continues to hold out hope for answers in the disappearance of Frederick Lagrelle. At the age of 51, Frederick was last seen on a day in the spring of 1997, in the familiar surroundings of the Sunchild and O'Chiese First Nations. The exact date of his disappearance remains uncertain, adding a layer of ambiguity to the already painful circumstances. There was a potential sighting of him in the nearby Rocky Mountain House area several days after he was initially reported missing, but this lead did not bring his family the closure they desperately sought. Frederick, who was also known by the nickname "Choosies," is described as having black hair and brown eyes. At the time he went missing, he stood at 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed approximately 150 pounds. It is known that he had false teeth. When he was last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, running shoes, a distinctive black and green bomber-style jacket, and a grey baseball cap with the letters "GM" on it. A notable characteristic about Frederick was his reliance on a cane and a knee or leg brace to walk, a consequence of a serious car accident he had endured earlier in his life. The same car accident that affected his mobility also left him with an intellectual disability, a vulnerability that has been a significant point of concern for his loved ones since he vanished. The passage of time has not diminished the questions surrounding his case. The Rocky Mountain House RCMP detachment has remained the point of contact for any information that might shed light on what happened to Frederick Lagrelle.
