In the early autumn of 1992, 20-year-old Allan Kenley Matheson was embarking on a new chapter of his life as a first-year student at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Just two weeks into his studies, the young man, known as Kenley to his friends and family, vanished. The last confirmed sighting of him was on September 21, 1992, when a friend reportedly saw him walking down Main Street in the small university town. In the days leading up to his disappearance, Kenley had spent a weekend with new university friends on Corkum's Island in Lunenburg County. He returned to campus, attended a party on Saturday, September 19, and was seen by his sister in his residence, Crowell Tower, on Sunday, September 20. The following day, he was seen for the last time, and since that moment, there has been no communication with his family or friends, and his bank account has remained untouched. On the day he was last seen, Kenley was wearing blue denim Levi 509 jeans, a Helly Hansen nylon mountain jacket, and brown loafers. He carried a red and black backpack and wore a purple baseball cap, possibly with a Los Angeles Lakers logo. He also had a single gold hoop earring in his left ear. Kenley was known for his adventurous spirit; he was an avid reader, a keen hiker, and had previously traveled extensively by motorcycle, walking, and hitchhiking through Canada, the United States, and as far as Guatemala. This history of wanderlust initially led some, including law enforcement, to believe he may have simply left on his own accord. However, as time stretched on without any word, this theory became less plausible to his loved ones. The disappearance of Kenley Matheson has since become a deeply perplexing cold case, haunting his family and the community for decades. Over the years, numerous theories have been considered, ranging from an accident to foul play, but no definitive evidence has ever emerged to explain what happened. The investigation has remained open, and his case has been added to Nova Scotia's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers a significant reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for his disappearance. Police have stated they believe there are individuals who hold crucial information.
