In the small town of Fairview, Alberta, a young Indigenous mother named Shae Lynn McAllister vanished after completing her shift at a local restaurant. The 20-year-old woman, a member of the Horse Lake First Nation, was last seen on the night of July 4, 2019. After leaving her job at the A&W at approximately 10:35 p.m., her last known location was a nearby Shell gas station at 11:22 p.m. From that moment on, no one has reported seeing or hearing from Shae Lynn, a woman described by her loved ones as having a bright and friendly personality, deeply devoted to her two young children. The initial response to Shae Lynn's disappearance was a missing person investigation, with her family and community holding onto hope for her safe return. Described as being 5'8" tall and weighing around 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, her sudden absence was out of character and sparked immediate concern. As days turned into weeks and then years without any contact, the nature of the investigation shifted. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) eventually announced that due to the length of time she had been missing and the details of their investigation, they believed she was unlikely to be found alive and began treating her case as a homicide. Despite the grim outlook from law enforcement, the search for answers for Shae Lynn and her family has never ceased. In an effort to generate new leads, the RCMP has launched public appeals, including a billboard campaign in the Fairview area and a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance. Investigators believe there are people in the community who hold key information about what happened to the young mother. The case of Shae Lynn McAllister remains an open and active investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for her children, family, and community, who continue to seek justice and closure.
