In the late evening of March 9, 2014, 26-year-old Sandra Awungar Mensah was last seen in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal, Quebec. She had left her home around 9:00 PM with a friend, 28-year-old Courage Agbezorlie. The two were reportedly on their way to a Jean Coutu pharmacy located at 5855 Gouin Boulevard West, so that Agbezorlie could purchase an Opus card for public transit. Security footage from the pharmacy confirmed they were there, and a transaction for the Opus card was completed at 9:47 PM. After leaving the pharmacy, neither Mensah nor Agbezorlie were seen or heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, Sandra was described as a Black female with long, braided brown hair and brown eyes, standing at approximately 5'6" and weighing 150 pounds. The days following their disappearance were filled with concern and a growing police investigation. A grey Infiniti G35X sedan, which Agbezorlie had been known to borrow from a friend and was believed to be using that night, was discovered abandoned near Raimbault Park, not far from the pharmacy. The car showed no immediate signs of a struggle. Inside the vehicle, investigators found Agbezorlie's laptop and tablet. Neither Mensah nor Agbezorlie had a driver's license. As the search intensified, the families of the missing pair grew increasingly worried, stating that it was highly uncharacteristic for either of them to be out of contact. The Montreal police set up a command post in the area and conducted searches with a canine unit along the banks of the nearby Rivière des Prairies, but their initial efforts yielded no significant leads. A tragic development in the case came nearly two months later. On May 6, 2014, the body of Courage Agbezorlie was discovered on the shores of the Rivière des Prairies in Montreal North. An autopsy later concluded that there was no evidence of foul play in his death. The heartbreaking discovery of Agbezorlie brought a devastating answer to his family but deepened the mystery surrounding Sandra Mensah's whereabouts. Despite the passage of time, Sandra Awungar Mensah remains a missing person.
