A 45-year-old Indigenous woman, April was a familiar and beloved figure in her community, known to be a homebody who cherished her quiet life. The last confirmed communication from April was on March 28, 2020, and her last bank activity was recorded on April 5. Family members last saw her in Spuzzum around April 7th or 8th. Her sudden silence was profoundly out of character, sparking deep concern among her loved ones when she failed to make her usual check-ins. April is described as being five feet seven inches tall, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a rose tattoo on her right ankle. At the time she went missing, she was reportedly wearing a white blouse and blue jeans. The investigation into April's disappearance took a dark and complicated turn, leading authorities to suspect she may have been a victim of foul play. The focus of the investigation soon included her boyfriend and fiancé, Paris Margesson. Concerns escalated until her red Chevrolet pickup truck and camper were located on April 16, 2020, parked on a rural road near the border of Abbotsford and Chilliwack. April was not inside the vehicle. Instead, police discovered Paris Margesson, who was found with what was believed to be a self-inflicted wound and later died. The discovery shifted the case into a homicide investigation, although April was still officially considered a missing person. Adding to the sorrow of the situation, April's cherished brown pug, Chipper, was found alive inside the camper. In the years following her disappearance, April's family, friends, and community have refused to give up hope for answers. They have organized extensive searches, combing through vast and challenging terrain across multiple regions, including Boston Bar, Hope, Chilliwack, and the Silver Skagit Road corridor, driven by the desire to bring her home. Despite these exhaustive efforts and the ongoing investigation by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), her whereabouts remain unknown. The case is a painful example of the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada.
