In the quiet, early morning hours of December 10, 2020, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, a 22-year-old man named Gurpreet Singh Parmar walked away from his family's home and vanished. Video surveillance captured him leaving his residence on Northdale Court at approximately 6:58 a.m. At the time he was last seen, he was reportedly on the phone. Who he was speaking to and where he was headed remains a mystery. Gurpreet, who also went by the name Gurpreet Singh, was last seen wearing a dark sweater, possibly dark sweatpants, and work shoes, and he was carrying a lunch bag with a shoulder strap. He is described as a South Asian male, standing 5'8" tall with a slim build, brown eyes, and short dark hair. The days following Gurpreet's disappearance were filled with growing concern from his family. Described as a kind young man with a small group of friends, his sudden absence was entirely out of character. Having only lived in Abbotsford since November of 2019, he was still relatively new to the area. His family emphasized that he was not known to be involved with gangs or the drug trade, adding to the perplexing nature of his disappearance. The Abbotsford Police Department launched an investigation, initially sharing a request for public assistance on social media on December 12, 2020, but as time went on with no sign of Gurpreet, the investigation intensified. As the search continued, police reiterated their appeal for any information that could help locate him. The Abbotsford Police Department's General Investigation and Missing Person Unit took the lead on the case. Despite their efforts and the pleas from his worried family, there have been no significant breakthroughs publicly announced in the case.
