In the early summer of 2005, a young woman named Ashleigh Lee Louise Pettman, just 18 years old, vanished from Kelowna, British Columbia. She had recently relocated to the area in March of that year, moving from Grande Prairie, Alberta, to live with her maternal grandmother. By May, however, Ashleigh had gathered her belongings and left her grandmother's home without indicating where she was going. The last confirmed sightings of her vary, with some accounts stating she was last seen on June 1, 2005, and others mentioning June 3rd or June 5th of the same year. When she was last seen, she was in the downtown area of Kelowna, possibly in City Park. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as being approximately 5'4" tall and weighing around 95 to 105 pounds, with green eyes and long blonde or light brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Ashleigh also has a tattoo of a Playboy-style bunny on her upper back and a pierced tongue. The circumstances surrounding Ashleigh's disappearance remain shrouded in uncertainty. Before she went missing, she had reportedly gone out with friends in a vehicle and did not return to her grandparents' home on the west side of Kelowna. In the period leading up to her disappearance, police described her as an "at-risk youth" who was living on the streets. Her disappearance was not reported to the authorities until later in June 2005. Investigators have pursued various leads over the years, but their extensive inquiries have not led to her location.
