In the autumn of 1999, a 16-year-old male named Matthew Alan Richard, who sometimes went by Matt, was making his way from British Columbia to Canmore, Alberta, where he had been living. On October 30, 1999, he was at a truck stop in Sicamous, British Columbia, with a friend he was traveling with. At the time, Matthew was described as being 6'1" and weighing approximately 181 pounds, with blond, straight hair and blue eyes. He had a slender build, a fair complexion, and a noticeable chipped front tooth that had some decay. On the day he was last seen, he was believed to be wearing a cotton hoodie, a t-shirt, jeans, and running shoes. The circumstances leading to Matthew's disappearance are not entirely clear. It is believed that he and his friend were hitchhiking when they accepted a ride from a truck driver. The journey reportedly involved a stop in Sicamous due to weather conditions, where they spent the night at a truck stop. It was from this truck stop that Matthew was last seen. He has not been seen or heard from since that day. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a vulnerable youth, and his case has been classified as an endangered runaway. He also struggled with substance abuse and had been diagnosed with ADHD. The investigation into Matthew Alan Richard's disappearance is being handled by the Sicamous RCMP. Over the years, his case has been featured on various platforms for missing persons, with his details circulated in the hope of generating new leads. He has been known to use the surnames "Richard-Taylor," "Taylor-Richard," or "Taylor." Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, and there have been no confirmed sightings of Matthew since 1999. The overview of this case is that of a young man who vanished while traveling, leaving behind a family and a community with unanswered questions about his whereabouts and well-being. The lack of any significant leads or contact has created a painful and prolonged uncertainty for those who knew and cared for him.
