In the summer of 2017, a 17-year-old male named Brayden Donald Joseph Thibault was spending time in Fredericton, New Brunswick, visiting with friends, about an hour and a half from his home in St. Stephen. He had been in the city for two weeks, staying in regular contact with his mother, Amanda Frigault. Their last conversation took place on the morning of July 31, 2017, ending with him telling her, "I love you more, mama." Later that afternoon, Brayden was seen on Gibson Street on the city's north side. He was reportedly planning to meet someone in Moncton, but he was never seen or heard from again. At the time of his disappearance, Brayden was described as five feet eight inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has a distinctive tattoo on his inner left arm that says, "Trust your struggles." The initial months following Brayden's disappearance were filled with uncertainty for his family. While police initially told his mother privately they believed he may have been a victim of a homicide, his case was publicly deemed suspicious a few months after he was last seen. For two years, the investigation continued with few public updates, a period of agony for his loved ones who were subjected to cruel rumors and speculation within the community. In July 2019, the New Brunswick RCMP officially announced that their Major Crime Unit was investigating Brayden's disappearance as a homicide. Authorities stated they believe Brayden is deceased and that people in the community have knowledge of what happened to him and the location of his remains. Despite the reclassification of his case to a homicide, no arrests have been made, and Brayden's remains have not been recovered. Over the years, investigators have conducted searches in various areas of interest, including locations in Moncton near the university and in Fredericton near McMinniman Court, but these efforts have not led to a breakthrough in the case. Brayden is remembered by his family as a talented athlete who excelled in football, soccer, and wrestling. He was a funny and sarcastic Grade 11 student who was deeply devoted to his five siblings. His mother has made public appeals, begging for anyone with information to come forward so she can bring her son home and give her family some measure of closure. The investigation into the homicide of Brayden Thibault remains active, a painful and unresolved chapter for a family still waiting for answers years after their loved one vanished.
