In the pre-dawn hours of July 28, 1980, 28-year-old Robert Allan Wiggins was dropped off by close friends at a residence in the 500 block of 11th Street East in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. This would be the last confirmed time anyone saw him. Known to his loved ones as "Bud," Robert was described as being 5'10" tall and weighing 180 pounds. As the sun rose on that summer morning, Robert vanished, leaving behind a mystery that has caused his family immense pain and a search for answers that has spanned decades.

The months following Robert's disappearance offered a perplexing clue but no resolution. In the summer or fall of 1980, his billfold was discovered along Highway 16 near Radisson, a considerable distance from where he was last seen. The wallet was turned over to the Radisson RCMP and, strangely, it still contained $300 in cash and a cheque for $67.60 made out to Robert. The wallet was eventually returned to his family, but the discovery only deepened the mystery of his whereabouts. Investigators learned that Robert had connections to both Edmonton and Calgary at the time he went missing, but these leads did not bring them any closer to finding him.

Years turned into decades, and the case of Robert Wiggins grew cold, though never forgotten by his family or by the Prince Albert Police Service, who continue to actively investigate his disappearance. It is believed that Robert, who was known to live a high-risk lifestyle and may have been involved in the drug trade, was a victim of foul play. His brother, Bill, has expressed his belief that Robert met a violent end. Robert's parents passed away without ever learning what happened to their son. Despite the passage of more than four decades, his daughter and other relatives have not given up hope for answers that might bring them some measure of closure. The case remains an open and active investigation, a poignant reminder of a young man who disappeared into the early morning light, leaving behind a family searching for truth.
