In the quiet of a mid-January day in Oklahoma, David Anthony Orr, a 42-year-old man, vanished, leaving behind a void of information for his concerned family. He was last seen on January 16, 2021, in the Harrah-Newalla area. Orr, a Hispanic and Caucasian male with black hair and brown eyes, stood at five feet eleven inches and weighed around 220 pounds. Known by nicknames such as "D Law" and "D-Low," his disappearance would soon unravel a grim and complex story that pointed towards foul play. At the time he went missing, he had been staying with a married couple, Jason and Elizabeth Cornett, in their home in McLoud. The initial days of David Orr's absence were marked by a concerning silence. The day after he was last heard from, a significant clue emerged when Elizabeth Cornett was captured on surveillance video using Orr's food stamp card at a grocery store in Harrah. This transaction was an early indicator that something was amiss. As the investigation into his disappearance began, law enforcement from multiple agencies, including the Midwest City Police Department, Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, and Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office, became involved. In March 2021, investigators executed a search warrant at the Cornett's residence, digging in the backyard in a search for remains, but their efforts yielded nothing. The case took a significant turn in November 2021 when a person in federal custody came forward with a chilling account, stating that Orr had been killed in a bedroom of the Cornett's home and his body was subsequently burned inside a metal box. This new information led investigators to execute a second search warrant on the McLoud property, where they discovered blood in a bedroom that was later matched to David Orr's DNA. The culmination of the investigation led to the arrests of Jason and Elizabeth Cornett in March 2023. Jason Cornett was charged with first-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse, while Elizabeth Cornett faced charges of accessory to first-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse. Authorities believed Orr was shot and killed, possibly over a debt owed to a convicted murderer for whom Jason Cornett's uncle. Following the murder, it was alleged that Orr's body was burned in a metal box in the backyard. After his disappearance, Orr's ex-wife and son reported that Jason Cornett had threatened them to stop looking into the case. In a surprising turn, the charges against the Cornetts and a nephew who was also implicated were dropped in December of that year pending further investigation. Tragically, just days after his release from jail, Jason Cornett was found dead in Midwest City. The investigation into his death is ongoing. David Orr's case, which began as a missing person report, has since evolved into a complex homicide investigation, leaving his family with unanswered questions and the painful reality of his loss.
