On a day meant for celebration, Mother's Day of 2017, 46-year-old Mary Rebecca Osborne vanished from the small town of Pound, Virginia. She had been out with her son, his girlfriend, and a friend to mark the occasion. However, the celebratory mood soured when a disagreement arose between Mary and her son. He had suggested she come stay at his house, a proposal that reportedly upset her. In the midst of the argument, Mary demanded to be let out of the vehicle. They complied with her request, leaving her on Hale Gap Road, a location approximately one mile from where she had been living and about three miles from the Kentucky state line. Mary was last seen wearing a long-sleeved brown t-shirt, blue jeans, and gray sneakers. She has not been seen or heard from since that evening on May 14, 2017. The days following Mary's disappearance were filled with uncertainty. She was officially reported missing to the Wise County Sheriff's Office on May 17, 2017. In response, authorities, including search and rescue teams and other emergency services, conducted a thorough search of the area where she was last seen. Despite their efforts, the search of the rugged terrain around Hale Gap Road yielded no clues as to her whereabouts. Investigators learned that although Mary had her cellphone with her, it was later located, severing a potential link to tracking her movements. Her case was entered into national databases for missing persons as her family and friends were left to grapple with the painful reality of her absence. The investigation into Mary Rebecca Osborne's disappearance remains open. Known to her loved ones as Becky, she is described as a white female with brown hair and blue or green eyes. At the time she went missing, she stood between 5'0" and 5'1" tall and weighed between 105 and 135 pounds. The circumstances surrounding that Mother's Day in 2017 are the last known details of her life. The argument in the car and her subsequent exit onto a rural road marked the beginning of a prolonged and distressing mystery for her family and the community. With few details available beyond the initial incident, the case has grown cold, leaving a void of unanswered questions and a family still waiting for answers.
