On April 27, 1989, 30-year-old James "Dave" David Garner was last seen in Soldotna, Alaska. He was aboard the 42-foot fiberglass salmon fishing vessel, the Legend, which sank near Cape Douglas in the perilous waters of the southwest Cook Inlet. The entire four-person crew, all from Homer, was lost in the incident.
