In the unforgiving waters of the Gulf of Alaska, a story of loss and enduring mystery began to unfold. Jamie Manuel Rogerio, a 34-year-old fisherman, was aboard the F/V Uyak II when he was last seen in the vicinity of Kodiak, Alaska. On November 5, 1987, the Uyak II, a 112-foot trawler, sank off the southern end of Kodiak Island, approximately 20 miles south of Sitkalidak Island.
