In the autumn of 1987, the unforgiving waters of the Alaskan coast became the final known location for 43-year-old John Branner Fowler, Jr. On November 1st, an avid fisherman and skipper, he was aboard his 40-foot troller, the Rex, when a tragic boating accident occurred approximately nine miles southwest of Sitka, Alaska.
