On February 14, 1985, a then 24-year-old crewman named Shawn Heaney, along with four other men, disappeared into the unforgiving waters of Alaska. Heaney was aboard the 83-foot fishing vessel, the Alert, which was captained by Mel Wick. The rest of the crew consisted of Ray Basel, Paul Rowe, and Sveinn Adalsteinsson.
