Malik Barbour was 20 when he was shot and killed in the early morning hours of July 16, 2016, in the 1500 block of SE Long Place in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Police found him on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting followed a verbal confrontation at a house party.
Investigators identified 20-year-old Terrell A. Ingram of Kansas City as the shooter after witness statements and surveillance footage linked him to the vehicle involved. Witnesses said Ingram, a passenger in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, exited the vehicle and fired up to six shots, then after a pause approached and fired two more rounds before fleeing with the driver. The driver later confirmed driving Ingram from the scene and police recovered clothing matching what the shooter wore that night.
Ingram was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action; the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office requested a $250,000 bond. The case went to trial and a Jackson County jury found Terrell A. Ingram guilty of first-degree murder; the jury recommended a life sentence. Does anyone have information about Malik’s last known movements or the house party that night?
