William Eric Robinson, 34, was found dead in the trunk of his car at the Gionwood Apartments in Sumter, South Carolina, on August 3, 2011. He had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head. His family had reported him missing when they could not reach him and his car was later located at the apartment complex, prompting a search that uncovered his body.
Investigators say Robinson went to Jacob Lee Terry’s apartment on the night of August 2, 2011, to discuss a reported $1,500 debt. An argument allegedly escalated and Robinson was shot. Travis Bracey was present and heard a gunshot after music in the apartment had been turned up; a neighbor also reported seeing Robinson slumped over a window. Authorities arrested Terry, who was reportedly the last person seen with Robinson, along with Terry’s sister, Jacolyn Jacobus, charged as an accessory after the fact, and Bracey, charged with obstruction of justice.
In February 2014 Terry changed his plea to guilty and received a 45-year sentence for murder plus a concurrent five-year sentence for possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Does anyone have further details about Robinson’s life in Sumter or saw him in the days before August 3, 2011?
