On the night of April 22, 2022, 20-year-old Taon Lamont Cline of Frederick, known to some as Tay Tay, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 19500 block of Gunners Branch Road in Germantown, Maryland. First responders arrived around 10:50 p.m.; Cline was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly focused on a group of teenagers. In the weeks after the shooting four arrests were made: 15-year-old Malik Hney, 14-year-old Justin Acosta, 16-year-old Malachi Hney, and 17-year-old Daylon Windell Miller. Authorities said the shooting was not random but resulted from an ongoing conflict between rival gangs in the Germantown and Gaithersburg areas. All four were charged as adults with first-degree murder.
Few public details about motives or events leading up to the shooting have been released. If anyone knew Taon Cline, his movements that night, or has information about the conflict between the groups involved, please come forward.
