On the evening of April 10, 2019, a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 3200 block of Ryan Drive in Suitland, Maryland, led Prince George’s County police to a car where 23-year-old Kevin Givens of Southeast Washington, D.C., was found with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family and friends set up a street shrine in the 3700 block of First Street SE near his home, leaving messages and referring to him by the nickname Wop. Homicide detectives worked the case and within a week identified and arrested 20-year-old Malik Edouard of Temple Hills. Edouard was charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges and was being held in the Department of Corrections on no-bond status. Investigators said Edouard and Givens were known to each other through mutual acquaintances; a motive remained under investigation.
If anyone knew Kevin, his movements that evening, or has information about what led to the shooting, please share what is known.
