Joseph Maurice Ward, 37, of Silver Spring, Maryland, was found dead on February 14, 2018, outside a vacant house in the 1300 block of Oates Street in Capitol Heights. His body was discovered in the afternoon and he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 4:00 p.m. The Prince George’s County Police Department opened a homicide investigation and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Despite the reward and investigative efforts, the case has gone cold. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and detectives continue to ask anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward to help bring closure to his family.

Did anyone in the Capitol Heights or Silver Spring area see or hear anything on February 14, 2018, that could help investigators?
