Breon Markeith Baglin was 19 when he answered a knock at his Seagate Court home in Essex, Maryland, on the early morning of November 11, 2016. At about 1:05 a.m. someone outside opened fire as Breon opened the door; he was struck at least once in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene.

A second young man, 20-year-old Juwan Khalil Mitchell, was standing behind Breon and was shot in the lower body. Mitchell survived after being taken to a nearby hospital. Witnesses reported the shooter fled immediately into the night; no suspect has been publicly identified.

Baltimore County Police have not announced arrests, and the motive remains unknown. Detectives renewed a public plea for information as recently as January 2025 and have offered a reward for tips that lead to an arrest and charging. Anyone who knew Breon or has information about that night is asked to contact investigators.
