A dispute between two acquaintances in Capitol Heights, Maryland, ended in a fatal shooting on the evening of October 7, 2015. Cofield Richardson Jr., 48, was shot and killed outside on his street. Richardson was Black with Native American heritage.
Prince George’s County Police identified 24-year-old John Alfred Scriver of Landover as a suspect and investigators said the shooting grew out of an ongoing argument between the men. An arrest warrant charging Scriver with first- and second-degree murder was announced on November 30, 2015, and officers arrested him in Glenarden on December 10, 2015; he was held at the Department of Corrections on no-bond status. Richardson’s funeral was held October 15, 2015, at The Church of the Incarnation in Washington, D.C., and he was interred at National Harmony Memorial Park.
Are there readers who knew Cofield Richardson or who recall the neighborhood dispute that led to his death?
