In the early morning hours of November 2, 2008, gunfire in a parking lot on Walters Lane in Forestville, Maryland, left two men critically wounded. Prince George’s County officers arriving at about 1:44 a.m. found 29-year-old Levar Tyran Jones with an upper-body gunshot wound; he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterward. Nearby, 28-year-old Larry Cornell Johnson, originally from Saint Leonard in Calvert County, was also found with an upper-body gunshot wound and was transported for treatment. Johnson survived for five days before dying on November 7, 2008, making this a double homicide investigation.
The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit led an intensive probe, searching for motive and potential suspects. Authorities offered up to a $25,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment, and asked the public to come forward. No suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the shootings.
Did anyone in the community have information about either man’s movements that night or about who might have been involved?
