On the evening of April 24, 2015, 29-year-old Brittney Mills was shot to death inside her Baton Rouge apartment after answering a knock at the door. Mills was eight months pregnant; medical staff delivered her baby boy shortly afterward, but the infant died a week later. A 10-year-old daughter was in the apartment and was not physically harmed.
Investigators early on sought to speak with La’el Collins, a former LSU player who had a past relationship with Mills, but he was never publicly named as a suspect and a reported paternity test excluded him as the child’s father. A locked iPhone belonging to Mills became a focal point: police obtained call logs and some iCloud material with Apple’s help, but encryption prevented access to recent texts and other unbacked-up data. No weapon was recovered, no arrests have been announced, and the case remains unsolved.
Does anyone who knew Brittney or her routine around April 2015 have information that could help investigators?
