Trenton James Way, 27, was working the overnight shift at the Kangaroo gas station in Bessemer, Alabama, when he was fatally shot during a robbery in the early morning of December 16, 2015. Bessemer police arrived at 1:32 a.m. and found Way behind the counter; he was pronounced dead thirteen minutes later.

Surveillance captured the assailant’s image. The suspect was described as a Black male, about 5 feet 10 inches or shorter, with a medium build, wearing a dark-colored hoodie and faded blue jeans with a tear on the front left pocket, and armed with a black handgun. He left carrying a trash bag full of cash and merchandise. The family publicly pleaded for information, and nine months after the killing they were still seeking justice, suggesting no arrest had been announced by then.

Did anyone see the suspect near the Kangaroo that night or recognize the clothing or the torn pocket in the surveillance images?
