Daves Fernandez, 28, of Corning, California, was shot and killed in Willows on the night of November 7, 2020. The shooting happened about 10:44 p.m. near the Cedar Hills Apartment complex on North Humboldt Street. Neighbors reported hearing a single gunshot and saw two people running toward the apartment complex. Deputies from the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office found Fernandez lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound; he was taken to Glenn Medical Center and died shortly after arrival.

The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Task Force opened a homicide inquiry. The motive is unknown and no arrests have been announced. During the probe a 17-year-old local male was treated at Glenn Medical Center for a stab wound, and investigators are looking into whether the two incidents are connected.
